Our swallows has had a second batch of babies this summer. They have been making quite a ruckus for a couple of weeks now and mes LOVES watching the pawrents and the older siblings flying around and back and forth. Sunday, mes sent Mommy out to gets a picture of them so mes can show them to yous and all she could see was the tops of their heads.
There is only 2 of them this time and they can still hunker down pretty good. She even climbed the step ladder and the above was all she could see!
She did gets a pretty decent picture of a big boat coming down the river though.
Just before supper, it was raining like mad and Mommy peaked out the window.
Mommy was watching the older kids dodging the raindrops and one of the babies was too!
My goodness they gets big fast! He/She is still pretty fluffy! And yous can see they still have the yellow stripe on their beak so the Mommy and Daddy can has target practice when they flies up with bugs!
The swallows has kept mes entertained all summer - mes will miss them when they fly south!
Wow, now that's a nice view! Both birdies and boats!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool!! Is the nest made of mud? They've made quite a mess! Is your mom going to remove the nest after they've gone or leave it for them until next year? Thanks for sharing the babies!!!
ReplyDeleteThe swallows scoop mud out of the river, then make the nest out of it. When the babies are gone (in about 2 weeks), my Mommy will knock it down and clean up the mess. Wes gots cardboard under the nest on the deck as they have created a pile of poop. And Mommy has cleaned the poop off the sliding door a zillion times so mes can watch the birds flying back and forth from my heating pad on the bed.
DeleteNow, that is what I call AWESOME Bird TV!
ReplyDeleteOh how great that this wonderful berds spent the summer with you. We had just one brood this year, what makes me wonder, because the weather guy said we will get a long summer... bet he is wrong and the swallows knew it better :o)
ReplyDeleteWe have had a not so hot summer and were quite surprised when they started a second batch! But the falls are always good with the warm weather lasting until the end of October.

You have good Bird TV, Nellie. I have audience participation TV here. My mum likes to leave the doors and windows open in the summer and the silly swallows fly indoors and mum hollers at me to leave them alone.
ReplyDeleteWow, not only are they making a ruckus, they're making a real mess with that nest. But that is some good Bird TV for you.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the birdy TV is a lot of work for your Mommy. It's nice of her to provide a safe place for the birds and entertainment for you. I didn't know the babies have striped beaks. Mother Nature is very smart!
